A hundred classics in one year.
In 2024 I read 100 classics: Don Quixote, Les Misérables, all of Hemingway, some Plato including the Republic, and many more. My favourite was Les Misérables. I found it an emotional journey and liked the choice of words, though about 400 pages in, when we meet the ultra-royalists, I spent a few chapters looking up what felt like every twentieth word.
A book that stayed with me was A Farewell to Arms: a war story that tells the truth about love and how it dies, without nobility or grace. The style is everything an engineer wishes his own writing was: exact and concise.
